A True Threat

GLOBAL WARMING
Humanity is sitting on a ticking time bomb. If the vast majority of the world's scientists are right, we have just ten years to avert a major catastrophe that could send our entire planet into a tail-spin of epic destruction involving extreme weather, floods, droughts, epidemics and killer heat waves beyond anything we have ever experienced.
Things you can do:
1-Replace a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb (cfl)
2-Move your thermostat down 2° in winter and up 2° in summer
3-Clean or replace filters on your furnace and air conditioner
4-Install a programmable thermostat
5-Choose energy efficient appliances when making new purchases
6-Wrap your water heater in an insulation blanket
7-Use less hot water
8-Use a clothesline instead of a dryer whenever possible
9-Turn off electronic devices you’re not using
10-Unplug electronics from the wall when you’re not using them
11-Only run your dishwasher when there’s a full load and use the energy-saving setting
12-Insulate and weatherize your home
13-Be sure you’re recycling at home
14-Buy recycled paper products
15-Plant a tree whenever you can
16-Get a home energy audit
17-Switch to green power
18-Buy locally grown and produced foods
19-Buy fresh foods instead of frozen
20-Seek out and support local farmers markets
21-Buy organic foods as much as possible
22-Avoid heavily packaged products
23-Eat less meat
24-Reduce the number of miles you drive by walking, biking, carpooling or taking mass transit wherever possible
25-Start a carpool with your coworkers or classmates
26-Keep your car tuned up
27-Check your tires weekly to make sure they’re properly inflated
28-When it is time for a new car, choose a more fuel efficient vehicle
29-Try car sharing
30-Try telecommuting from home
31-Fly less

It's a serous issue, but no one ever takes anyone speaking about it seriously and thet roll their eyes... human beings make a mess of everything
As I much as I agree with you, I am enjoying the current weather in Iowa. It hasn't snowed and it is already January. But then again, but then again, what are we doing?
PS:Happy NY.
happy ny 2 u 2....
i'm trying...not so easy.
but then again it's springtime in cleveland, i luv it...
you always disappear
The important part of the global warming is due to the human activities but the sun is also held responsible for a part of it.
"On the surface of the sun there's dark regions that gets to a maximum every 11 years (last time was on year 2000). Theses regions are enrolled with shining regions producing lots of lights and the increase of this activity produces an increase in temperatures.
A study based on 3 cycles, each of eleven years, quantified for the 1st time the increase of lighting,0.1% during a cycle.
So they came out with the conclusion that it has a neglected effect on the earth heating.
But another study lead in France said that 3 cycles are not emough to estimate the lightings variations and that the sun is going through pertutbations not totally clarified so far since the ice age between 1645 and 1715 which makes hard to determine how much the sun in responsible...
So all this boring bla bla bla just to say that the sun might be responsible too but yet we dunno how much!
Rouba, Paul, and Gitanes, I am sorry guys, but, I dont think we should ever appreciate this. Sorry eh!
FZ, we must sacrifice :-)
Izzi, I hope we dont ignore this one. This is why we should all act and spread the word. This is our mother after all. Walla la? What do you mean "disappear"? :-)
Krys, obviously, the sun does affect temperatures on earth, however, temperature fluctuations on earth caused by the sun are at a baseline which we are exceeding year by year due to neglect. We ignore that it is alive and very finite just like us!
i am terrified! we had 72 yesterday.. 72 in nyc in january!! i'm loving the heat but it's just not natural!
It seems to be getting colder in the Arab Gulf countries and Middle East... This is very unsettling..
just switched off my aircon and desk lamp..
thanks for reminding
anytime lirun
