Of War and Patriotism

...People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek
Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love...

A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.
Edward Abbey

Why, the Government is merely...a temporary servant...Its function is to obey orders, not originate them.
Mark Twain

War is an instrument entirely inefficient toward redressing wrong; and multiplies, instead of indemnifying losses.
Thomas Jefferson

The defense policy of the United States is based on a simple premise: The United States does not start fights. We will never be an aggressor.
Ronald Reagan

Power always thinks it has a great soul and vast views beyond the comprehension of the weak; and that it is doing God's service...
John Adams

O, it is excellent To have a giant’s strength! But it is tyrannous To use it like a giant.
William Shakespeare

Conquest is not in our principles. It is inconsistent with our government.
Thomas Jefferson

The question in my mind is how many additional American casualties is Saddam worth? And the answer is not very damned many.
Dick Cheney

A highwayman is as much a robber when he plunders in a gang as when single; and a nation that makes an unjust war is only a great gang.
Benjamin Franklin

We know that dictators are quick to choose aggression, while free nations strive to resolve differences in peace.
George W. Bush

Look back over the past, with its changing empires that rose and fell, and you can foresee the future.
Marcus Aurelius

These pictures are hard to look at. Without a doubt, the savagery of humanity is the worst kind.

I know, It is extremely sad to look at these pictures. That one human can take advantage of another like this is shocking; especially if they are vulnerable criminals and prisonners. We need to stand up to these acts from both sides; and especially to the side claiming all the ethics. Not because we all have Arab backgrounds; this has nothing to do with it, but because it is plain wrong! It is hateful! It is a lie! It promotes violence! It keeps the vicious cycle going! Because we truly want an end to all of this! I just want voters here to keep these things in mind when they are at the polls. We need to change the politicians, to change the politics!
