Stop the Deception

On Septmeber 12, 2006, I grieve for them, but not only them.
The original "Ground Zero" is the site where the United States Government first tested the Atom bomb in the deserts of New Mexico. Later on, that experiment, would lead to the death of over 70,000 innocent civilians in Nagasaki, and over 140,000 in Hiroshima. Today, "Ground Zero" is a memorial in New York where the innocent civilians who died on September 11, 2001, are mourned.

The Tokyo bombings of March 9-10, 1945, killed over 85,000 innocent civilians with Napalm. The military leadership referred to those missions as "Burn Jobs". Robert McNamara, the 8th Secretary of Defense, and one of the strategic war planners of the Tokyo bombings later said "If we had lost that war, we would have later been on trial as war criminals".

An interesting way to celebrate the death of Fascism...

The innocent civilians killed during World War II and the Korean War, number in the 1,000,000's. The response, "this is the way we do business".

"Shock and Awe" is a battle plan proposed and implimented as a non-nuclear tactic, that can achieve results similar to the devastation of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. "Shock" with force and generate "Awe" about the plunder one airplane can carry.

Reading these things alarms me. Life seems so cheap. People today are actually sitting down and arranging efficient demolishion, butchery, and consumption of another people. I draw the line here, "business" is not done like this.

When did innocent civilians become fair game?

When did lines become so blurred?

Love and hate.

Food and starvation.

Thirst and satisfaction.

Reconstruction and re-devastation.

Divine and secular.

Friend and foe.

Life and death.

Peace and war.

Why can't we...

2,973

Total number of civilians killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks

72,000

Estimated number of civilians killed worldwide

since September 11, 2001

as a result of the ongoing "War on Terror"

The number of casualties is nothing but a number nowadays. It has no impact anymore. Did anyone move when on average, 30 civilians were being killed in Lebanon? Does anyone react when 30-40 Iraqis die every single day, for the past few years? Everything is like a movie. Please change the channel and let's watch Sex and the city, it's more fun. People are becoming so used to it. Weird phenomenon. It is funny to what extent religion is becoming an integral part of politics. It is like we are going back to the middle ages.

Mirvat. Thank You.

Paul. For some reason, it seems to be ok when an Arab dies to Arabs and "others". I am not sure if we do not know how to give value to ourselves (if we are the problem), or it is much bigger than this, or both. Second of all, we need to isolate religion and politics. Best man for the job. Not every president should be maronite (good example, look at our president now), not every prime minister sunni and so on. One good way to do this we need to reform our "voting" laws. Something which the usual suspects are reluctant to do because they are enjoying their time in the "lime light".

Voting laws are important. But it should go beyond that. It is about education and civil rights. Religion should have NOTHING to do with politics.and let's not fool ourselves; sectarianism will not disappear in one day or one year. This is a process that will take years and many generations to come. But we have to start now.I wish the world is perfect but it's not.I wish i am perfect, but I am not.
