For you

stand like the cedar tree
strong and majestic
stretched by the tempest
yet assertive and unyielding

for you

will not sway
listen to the wind
over foothills it howls
as generations return and bear fruit

for you

are an experiment thought to be
a rendezvous of coexistence at one table
where the east broke,
bread with west

for you

will not be led astray
be the experiment that stands
a distinguished identity
just like your cedar tree
