Is it because of them, the leaders, or us, the people? Shouldn't we rise and try to make a difference? Or are we happy with the way things are? being led like sheep?fed lies everyday, listening to speeches that nurture our instincts?

I agree paul. It is partly our fault as well. But you know, a major problem is the people are divided as well. It seems difficult to unite them (Again due to religious beliefs). Our society in AUB is not a true representation of the Beirut outside "main gate". The first thing that needs to be done is to "secularize" the government. We need people that speak for country first (Lebanon and only Lebanon) in charge of making and implementing laws; sadly, the exact opposite to what we have now. Do you think this can happen?

Educate educate educate! I'll say it again-Educate. what i mean is, the WHOLE education system is what needs to CHANGE in Lebanon. No more religion taught in schools- schools should not be divided like they are upon religion and sect, enough of that crap. It's specifically due to this crap that we are where we are. There should be laws that enforce that schools, and families, whether they like it or not (and i'm not talking college or university of course) to have a MIX of students from all diff. religious sects.

I'm not sure how practical that is, considering that families in certain areas tend to send their kids to schools nearby which conveniently happen to fall under the same religious affiliations, but then, schools then MUST be built in ways and places where exclusivity is limited. this is a project that will take decades if not more to implement, but i can't see any other way of resolving this never ending obssession with who's religion rules. khalsoona wlo. what do you think?

As the Aga khan put it,
Tolerance is what is missing in all of us. With tolerance comes understanding of the other registered trademarks (religions).

If that doesn't work then I hope that poverty and famine might unite us against these obsolete faces.
